Vision Statement
A multi-modal transportation system for the Fairfax area, linked to the metropolitan region, that affords personal independence, choice, mobility, and full participation in all aspects of society to individuals regardless of age, disability or economic status in a safe, accessible, affordable, reliable, timely, and sustainable manner.
Mission Statement
To promote the development of the envisioned multi-modal transportation system through assessments, service coordination, technological innovations, partnerships, advice, policy review and recommendations, and advocacy.
Objectives
Identify existing volunteer, faith-based, private sector, personal and public transportation resources
Assess the unmet mobility needs of those needing or providing long-term care services, and identify gaps and barriers where these individuals cannot access multi-modal transportation
Recommend program and service enhancements to improve the availability, usability and accessibility of existing and potential transportation options
Monitor, improve and advocate for accessible transportation and pedestrian options by promoting promising practices, innovative technologies, and service coordination; developing partnerships; and maximizing sustainability
Utilize outreach and community education to raise consumer, provider and public awareness of how to use, design, operate and provide available services and potential improvements
